Uma Venkatraman

A Whiff of Spice

When you breathe it
I taste the fragrance
settling gently on lips
as the world swirls
in softly escaping syllables

When you think it
with your face cradled
in my hands
my fleeting portrait
in iridescent colours
etches itself in my palms

When you say it
my name is a
musk-infused
scent-sation of
smoky autumn evenings
with a whiff of spice
